Shine on, just don't be shiny. Smashbox knows how to battle shine. The cosmetics company developed a powder-gel formula ($26 at Sephora) to stop models from looking oily under the high-temp lights of photo shoots. The Smashbox Anti-Shine gel glides on under foundation and helps you keep a cool, matte look throughout the day.
7.Stay polished. When money is tight, it's tough to justify frequent manicures and pedicures -- even though nail care is mandatory during summer sandal season. Grippo likes a good clear topcoat and products such as Sally Hansen's Nailgrowth Miracle ($6.74 at Target) to keep professional manicures in place longer.
Sephora also sells a brilliant little pen that makes it a breeze to give yourself a professional-looking manicure. The French Tips & Toes Manicure Pen ($8) lets you effortlessly paint your nail tips white. Cover with a quick clear or pink polish and you'll look like you just came from the salon.
Foot maintenance is also imperative during sandal season. I've tried dozens of foot creams that promise to battle calluses and revitalize feet. So far, nothing has worked better than slathering Vaseline jelly ($3 at most drugstores) on the ole tootsies at night and slapping on cotton socks. Try it, and you'll never again step into sandals with dry, cracked heels.
8. Smell great. Heavy perfume is a no-no in hot weather. Summer scents need to be delicate and clean. Lemon Sugar eau de parfum by "fresh" ($22 at Sephora) is the perfect light, citrus scent. Aveda also sells great light body sprays called Pure-Fume Spirit custom blends ($20 at Aveda stores) that also smell clean and subtle without being bland.
