Vermont New Age Garden
The Path of Life Garden, located in historical Windsor, Vermont, is a celebration of life through nature and sculpture. A winding path leads visitors through a 14 acre field where 18 transforming garden areas are located for contemplation and enjoyment. Each garden area illustrates a different phase or evolution that we may experience as we journey through life. Some we will experience without choice, such as “Birth” or “Death”. Others will only be experienced by choice, such as “Union” and “Rebirth”. Birth is represented by an upright stone arising from a depression in the ground. Ten sugar stones surround this stone, bringing to mind the idea of being born into a family. Death is shown to the visitor as a grove of gnarled, dead maple trees standing together. The texture of the wood is meant to remind the visitor of life, while the wood remaining signifies strength. Union is represented by two granite posts linked through an old millstone, showing how we can choose to remain separate, yet we are still part of a whole. Rebirth is represented by a cemetery fence that encloses a stand of young trees growing out of the “graves”. From this point in the Garden, the visitor is allowed to exit through the Gateway of Eternity or begin again at Birth. The average time to view the 18 areas that comprise the Garden is 30-40 minutes, but visitors are welcome to stay as long as they would like. Maps and signposts lead the way. WINDSOR ATTRACTIONS: Other sites and attractions are located very close the Path of Life Garden. Within walking distance, The Harpoon Brewery, The Simon Pearce Glass Factory and Simon Pearce Pottery, as well as Still River Kayak Rentals are available for the visitor’s enjoyment. Just four miles from the Garden is downtown Windsor where various historical sites are located – the longest covered bridge in the United States, the American Precision Museum and the Vermont Constitution House are only a short drive away.
