Vermont Driftwood Sculpture

The Path of Life Garden, located in Windsor, Vermont, was inspired by the Life of Man – one of Europe’s most famous Japanese Gardens. Less formal in architecture, it makes use of the symbols of many cultures. Open to the public, the Garden consists of 18 installations, each symbolizing an aspect of life. Some features are manmade, while others are natural. While some installations require only simple viewing, others require participation. The installations include Solitude, Ambition and Forgiveness. Solitude is represented by a solitary stone, surrounded by lilacs and a maple shade structure symbolic of us being comfortable with being alone. Ambition is represented by a large mound. Visitors can participate by climbing to the top, symbolizing achievement. The installation, Forgiveness, is represented by a circle of 18 bamboo canes that are 50 feet in height, symbolic of the visitor looking skyward for the gift of forgiveness. These are just a few of the areas in the Path of Life Garden for visitors to explore at will to experience each of life’s phases through nature.
