We used our handy Actron multimeter to test a new set of carbon-core wires and discovered a hideous 17,000 ohms of resistance. The best low-resistance wires for the last decade have been those with the spiral-wound core and as little as 35-50 ohms per foot of resistance. Lower resistance means less voltage and current loss between the coil and the spark plug. A plug wire with less than 100 ohms of total resistance is very good, but a solid-core wire offers virtually zero resistance.
